Slow Motion

She blinked a few times, hoping for the tears to fall from her eyes. She knew that her eyes would probably fill up once again with a fresh set of tears that would fall from her eyes and trace down her cheeks, where, she would finally wipe them away. And, once again, her eyes would fill up with more tears, awaiting the process all over again.

Curled up in a ball on her small arm chair, she held on tightly to a pillow that seemed to be giving her some sort of comfort. Her teary eyes seemed to be focused on the window that was wet with newly fallen rain.

Millions of thoughts ran through her head as the rain pounded against her window and the roof, making a soft pitter-patter upon them..

There was one thought that seemed to constantly cross her mind. She thought reasoning would answer the question that seemed to be taking over her whole being...

Why did she let him go?

She closed her eyes as she felt a pang in her heart. She hated to admit the fact that she had let go of the perfect guy. The kind of guy she had always dreamed of. The guy that she had hoped she would one day wake up next to and be able say "he's mine... all mine..." The guy that she had always pictured at the end of the aisle, a perfectly happy smile upon his lips, waiting to say "I do.."

She had let this guy slip away... far from her grasp... she just watched him slowly get on the bus marked for a place far far away from her heart..

Tears were once again falling from her eyes as she pictured him there... she closed her eyes, trying to get rid of

his face... trying to not see his beautiful blue eyes... the eyes that seem to go beyond her own... the ones that went straight to her heart.. to her soul.. she wanted to rid her thoughts of his smile... the one that melted her whole body, making her completely susesible (SP?) to anything...

Tightening her arms around her comfort pillow, she just watched... she watched the rain fall from the sky... onto her window.. onto her heart... she knew that rain would fall not just on her window, but on her heart... her soul.. for years to come...

**This was inspired by an Instrumental from the Third Eye Blind CD called Slow Motion...

The Rain..

I love walking in the rain. It's something that I always dreamed and wished I would do with someone special in my life. I had always tried to convince ex boyfriends that it would be fun to go walking in the rain, but a lot of them just looked at me and thought I was completely crazy.

Except for one.

I had met him over the summer through a mutual friend. He was cute, funny, a 'punk poser' as his brother called him, and an absolute sweetie. If someone had told me years and years ago that I would end up dating this guy, I would've laughed in their face. He, obviously, wasn't the type of guy I normally dated.

I would say that for the short time we knew one another we had become so close as friends. I called him every night, usually around midnight and stayed up until dawn, talking about everything and anything. It was wonderful! I had never met someone that I had shared so much in common with, though you would never have thought by appearances. Him with his Korn T-shirts and me with my skirts and sweaters.

I had mentioned one night that walking in the rain was something I had dreamed of doing since I was a little girl. He just paused for a moment, and finally replied, "I love the rain."

I didn't make the connection, and I didn't for a long time. A few weeks before he had known he would be leaving, he tricked me into admiting I liked him. He liked me too!! Shocked and suprised, I just couldn't stop smiling that night while we talked about the weeks that had passed and the signs he was throwing out at me. Signs I did NOT notice.

It was planned that he would stay at my house the next night. I dreamed for that kiss that night.. that one kiss that just knocks you off your feet.

He came over, and around one in the morning, we heard it. The tap-tapping of rain on the roof. He grabbed my hand and smiled. No words were exchanged about what he had up his sleave, but just with that smile I knew it.

We were going for a walk in the rain.

We walked hand in hand, with the rain falling all around us. We didn't speak much, except for a few comments here and there. The rain was still falling, but now, it got heavier, and finally, started pouring all around us. We laughed because we were completely drenched, from head to toe.

I shivered, and he noticed. He pulled me into his arms, and started warming me up with his hands. It didn't take long for me to get warm, of course. I was in his arms, and it wasn't the usual 'in his arms'. It was completely and totally different then normal. I held on tight, and he lifted my chin up so he could look into my eyes, something he had always loved to do. He just smiled.

Before I could smile back, he leaned in and kissed me.... his lips barely touched mine, which sent shivers up and down my spine. As the kiss deepened, the world seemed to disappear around me. My only focus was him... and the way he kissed me...the way his his lips seemed to linger on mine, not wanting to remove themselves.

A burst of thunder caused us to jump away from one anothers lips, and the rain that had slowly started to drizzle, suddenly fell down around us again.

We both laughed at our reactions. He grabbed my hand and we proceeded to walk in the rain all night long.

I got my dream, though I waited years and years for it to come true. The best part of it was the fact I was able to share it with someone so dear to me.. someone I will always cherrish...

Everytime it rains, I can picture that night... like it was unfolding right in front of me... I love the rain...

My Wish, It Came True..

We stood there, our eyes admiring an authentic 18th-century English Garden from the window above it. Moments seem to pass as we stood there. Our eyes just couldn't remove themselves from this beautiful piece of artwork that was centered in the middle of this gorgeous museum. It seemed like time suddenly stopped, and we were the only two people who could move, but something... something about that garden just drew us in, and it would not let us go. Finally, when hours seem to pass by, I spoke:

"It's beautiful..." I said with a sigh.

"Absolutely," he replied, a smile taking over his lips.

Suddenly, without even a moment to think, he had grabbed my hand. We walked as quickly as you could through a museum, but, finally, we stood in the middle of the garden we had admired what seemed like hours ago.

My hand was still holding his as we walked slowly through the garden, trying to take in everything we could with every breath.

The moon had finally taken over the sun and the stars brightly sparkled above us. Christmas lights twinkled on the trees and bushes all around us. We stood before the huge water fountain, our eyes once again taking in every small aspect of this garden. Moving as if we were one, we both sat down on the water fountain.

I turned to my side to swish my hands around in the water, and he handed me a penny.

"Make a wish..." he whispered.

Penny in hand, I closed my eyes and made my wish. Without opening my eyes, I threw the penny. I returned to swishing the water when I opened my eyes, a smile on my face.

"How long have you been making that wish?" He asked.

I blushed for a moment, but replied, "Too long.."

"Why do you say that?"

"Well, because, I've been waiting for about six years for this date to happen..." I replied.

And without even saying anything, he leaned over and our lips met. Slowly, with our lips touching, the world seemed to whrill around us. I began to feel dizzy as his hand gently touched my face. That kiss... seemed endless...

I opened my eyes as our lips parted. My eyes were wide, and as I looked around, everything seemed brighter.. the moon, the stars, the twinkle lights...

"Thanks.." I replied.

"For what?"

"My wish.. it came true..." I smiled.

And instead of saying 'you're welcome', he kissed me.

This is, of course, about "HIM"...

In the Middle of Walmart...

"I could really go for some popcorn, what about you?" I had asked my boyfriend at the time.

Chris and I had been walking down the asile's of Walmart one late night due to the fact we had been really bored and extremely hungary.

I scanned the popcorn boxes and decided on the extra buttery kind. I turned to find my somewhat kiddish boyfriend pushing the cart really fast and jumping on that edge bar at the bottom of the cart. I laughed, realizing that boys at the edge of ten usually did this, but there he was, my cute boyfriend with an Alf T-shirt and baggie jeans, acting like he was ten years old all over again.

I gently tossed the box of popcorn in the cart when he finally stopped acting like he was ten years old.

"What about some Oreo cookies? Let's head to the cookie section. I know you--" and before I could finish my sentence, he grabbed my hand and pulled me into his arms.

Right there, at the end of the popcorn asile and on our way to the Oreos, he started dancing with me.

"What are you doing, Chris?" I said as my cheeks began to flame over in a blush as I watched people staring.

"It's our song.." He whispered, putting his head on my shoulder.

I listened closely, and sure enough, our song was playing over the speakers of Walmart.

I smiled as the tears fell to my cheeks.

"What's going on?" I heard as people began to gather around us. I couldn't say anything. I was completely speechless. He lifted his head from my shoulder, and replied proudly, "It's our song! And now, if you don't mind, I'm going to kiss her.."

And before I could say anything and before anyone could protest, he leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips. It was the sweetest kiss I had ever experienced in my life and most definitely the best kiss ever.

When our lips parted, he wiped the tears from my eyes as well as my cheeks and grabbed the cart. He replied as the people who had surrounded us smiled and commented on what had happened,

"I could go for Oreo's.."

He walked off in front of me, and I simply touched my lips as I followed behind him..

New Love with An Old Friend...

I had always dreamed for that one kiss.. the one that caused my head to swarm... my stomach to flutter like butterflies... fireworks to spark in the sky all around us... the stars to twinkle brighter then ever... I wanted all of this to happen..

But, it didn't happen like that at all...

I was walking in the mall with my best friend, Conner. We didn't speak much, just walked past the stores. He pointed out something he liked, and, moments later, I would try to convince him to go into a few shoe stores. He just krinkled his nose and shook his head no.

I smiled, thinking of the past we had together. We had grown up together, living only minutes away. Our parents had been friends far before we were even a twinkle in their eyes, and we were born only three days apart. Conner, of course, liked to pride himself on being the older one when we were little kids, and even as he grew older he liked to shove it in my face. While we were attending Elementary School, we would walk to school together, but he never actually admitted that we were friends. He was boy, and of course, girls had kooties... In the afternoon, though, he would walk me home, and end up playing with me anyway. I never took his 'kooties' theory seriously or to heart. When Middle School rolled around, I wasn't nearly as bad in his eyes. Actually, I was even 'cool', therefore, hanging out wasn't nearly as hard on his reputation.

Now, we're in highschool, best friends as always. We had both become totally different people, not at all in the same clique. He was the star basketball player, with his dark spiky hair and big blue eyes that the girls loved. He was always dating someone new each week, a player to the core. And, well, I was the Editer-in-chief of the newspaper, President of the Yearbook committee, and number one in our senior class. But, nothing ever changed the friendship we had. Until that day...

We were walking through the busy mall, when we both spotted THE store. The store that one would never grow old. The store that would always bring out the kid in a senior in high school or an Executive President of a big corporation.

We both exchanged looks, and without saying a word, we ran to the huge Toy Store. Our eyes were large with the anticipation of all the toys a 'kid' could play with. We separated, finding the sections we enjoyed the most when we were growing up.

For a while, we browsed separately, but eventually found one another. We stood there, in the Nerf Gun section, just laughing at ourselves for our immaturity.

"This was fun.." He said.

"I know, but, we're grown up now.. I think we should go.." I said, always being the realistic one.

"Not before I..." and he trailed off, and with a swift move, grabbed a Nurf gun and started shooting.

I didn't hesitate, and grabbed one myself.

There we were, causing a mess of the Nurf Gun section. We laughed till the tears were falling from our faces. I tried to grab for his gun, but before I knew it, he had grabbed me. He pulled me into his arms, and I just went numb. I didn't know what he was doing, and it didn't feel like the kind of hug he had always given me. He looked deeply into my eyes, and smiled.

"I found the girl I had always wanted... someone who would play in the toy store with me when I was 18 years old.."

My eyes were wide, and without delay, his lips touched mine. I had never pictured myself kissing Conner, but, when our lips were touching my thoughts and feelings of Conner changed... and it felt right.

I don't know when we stopped kissing. I don't even remember stopping. But, I do remember that when our lips touched, I knew I was his forever. But, then, I started looking back on the life we had shared, and I realized, I was always his. It just took that one simple, sweet kiss to open our eyes..

That Dream Kiss..

Silently riding in the backseat of my friends car, I listened to the radio... a soft sweet song it played... and I just starred out the window, watching the scenery fly by before me. The trees.. the flowers... the cars...

It was a dark, clear night... the stars shined brightly in the deep blue sky... I rolled my window down, feeling the soft breeze on my face... my hair whipping in the wind... and my thoughts, were of him..

He sat beside me... with my eyes closed, I took a deep breath, smelling his sweet cologne.... his face was perfect in my mind, his deep blue eyes starring deeply into my hazel eyes...touching my face gently, his lips would form into a smile...a small dimple forming in his right cheek... I could see myself casting my eyes down, in obvious embarrasment... and then, I could feel his hand lift my face up and, without further delay, tasting his sweet kiss...

With the perfect kiss running through my thoughts, I opened my eyes, a smile clearly on my lips...

Turning to my right, I stole a glance of him... he sat there, his face toward the window, starring at the scenery that passed him by... I just watched him... studying every aspect of his face, his body, his clothes...

Feeling the car slow down, I turned away from him. I began to grab my purse, wishing that he would turn and act out exactly what I had dreamed in my thoughts moments earlier...

The car came to a halt, and I slowly got out of the vehicle... I said my good byes, waving here and there, and walked up to the front door... I fished through my purse, trying to find my keys, which seemed to have disappeared... fumbling through lipstick and eye shadow, I searched for them... they were no where to be found..

I took a deep breath, and before I searched any further, he appeared out of the darkness.

"Looking for these?" he asked, his voice quiet, holding up a key with several key chains attached to it.

He walked slowly towards me, and when he passed me, he graced my arm, sending a shiver all over my body. He began to open the door, but he stopped. Turning around, he pulled me into his arms, and with one hard, deep look into my eyes, he leaned down... and kissed me...

Time seem to stop, but the world seemed to twirl around us so quickly that it made me completely dizzy.

Pulling away from his sweet, soft lips, I looked into his eyes... his deep blue eyes...the eyes that seem to sparkle with the moonlight... he gently touched my cheek, his lips forming into that smile she had dreamed of... a dimple appearing in his right cheek... I felt my eyes cast down, and my cheeks flooded with obvious embarrasment, and then, lifting my face up towards him, my dream kiss came true..
